OWT with Monopile Foundation: FSI
Research Motivation
Consider the dynamic response of two-way fluid-structure interaction (FSI) to the support structure of offshore wind turbines.

Contents
This study incorporates the two-way FSI concept and SSI effects into a numerical analysis of a monopile-supported OWT. Moreover, the study outlines that the turbine substructure should be designed to avoid the natural frequency within the resonance range.
Domestic Concerning Parameter Study
Using Taiwan’s 50-year returen period ocean data to analyze the FSI coupling effect, the study found that the maximum yield stress occurs at the pile-embedded position, indicating that the single-pile offshore wind turbine is profoundly affected by the pile-soil interaction effect.
